Shell Retail's TACSIM allows new Shell gas station owners to practice making decisions in a simulated environment.

Shell Retail:
Service Station Simulation

Owning a service station is hard work. There are people to manage, inventories to track, and facilities to maintain. New owners can quickly become overwhelmed. Shell Retail asked InterCom to develop a method for new owners to practice making appropriate decisions before they actually went on the job. The result was Shell Retail's Tactical Simulation (TACSIM).

In TACSIM, owners have to decide what is most important and what can wait. They learn whether their decisions were good or bad by seeing how much money they made during that day and how much business they lost. The owners quickly realize the types of the decisions that make for success.

When they are faced with the same situations at their own service stations, they can make decisions with confidence and experience.
